To put it plainly, I loved and hated what my cats gave me, but I never thought about their state of mind at all. Our relationship was all one way: mine.
For me, a government is there to provide protection for its citizens. The government should have an army and a way to defend its citizenry. The government should raise and levy taxes to help build and maintain an infrastructure so that roads are not collapsing beneath people. I also believe that a government should provide some assistance for the elderly and those who perhaps cannot help themselves. I also believe that, in this day and age, given the outrageous cost of medical care, that the government should provide some basic form of healthcare for its people. In short, the government should take care of some of the needs of its people, but it should most definitely NOT enforce its morality upon those people.
Amanda Knox – Yea, I know, she was arrested last year, but she was still plenty on the radar in 2008. The former UW honor-roll student was the feature of 20/20 episodes, had numerous news specials filmed on her and was even finally charged with the murder of her roommate. The crime she was charged with is a 2007 issue, but it looks like a good bet Amanda Knox could even make this list next year.
Well basically the good news is that the COBRA health insurance coverage you always had, you still do; you certainly aren’t deprived of anything; but there are certain areas where things get a little better. It’s kind of complicated though. Basically, you get your COBRA coverage benefits for any year and a half. The health-care reform originally included coverage beyond that; but they couldn’t pass the law with this, and they cut it down to only 18 months.
For me, if they took the dog to the pound and would separate I could refer them to a shelter. They could sleep in different beds on different floors in different areas of the building. They would have showers and an evening meal. They wouldn’t have each other. They would probably never know what happened to Musty but these are the rules.
There are those who refute that, of course. They talk about increased police presence and stricter gun laws, but to me, it makes about as much sense as anything else. With a smaller pool to pull from, a gang would suffer in personnel alone.
For anyone who can afford to buy state government-sponsored insurance, you really need to do that right away. If you have COBRA health insurance on the independent open market, you are guaranteed coverage even with a preexisting condition. But you need to make sure that you don’t let your COBRA expire before you go shopping. Or else, they could deny you coverage because of your preexisting condition. If you don’t have one, you’ll probably get a very good deal for being healthy and for being someone coming out of COBRA. The important thing here though is to make sure that you don’t let your COBRA expire before you go looking for an alternative.
